My reflection for week 12

Hello everyone,

I cant believe its already the final week of the sem!But still we need to do our assingments and of course BLOGGING!haha.well i have been just looking at some English teaching online videos and found it quite interesting of how teachers are trying new ways to teach English.I think its cool to see them teach on videos.Dont u think？I posted two videos on my previous post yesterday on how this teacher conducts her English lessons using a tv to teach her topic.I think that is quite interesting.I also saw some teachers using a blackboard to teach English and all they need to is just to record a video of themselves teaching using the blackboard.There is also another idea that i would like to share which i think it would be quite interesting for teachers to teach English online.Ever heard of virtual classroom? "A Virtual Classroom is a private online space in Blackboard that teachers can use to support student learning". Its free and students and teachers could use it whenever they want to learn or teach.Since i am taking the Chinese online paper this semester, part of this course introduces virtual classroom or vroom where students are able to learn characters,communicate with the lecturer or other students,write or draw characters and also learn how to speak chinese.All u need is a microphone and maybe a webcam if possible.I think this concept is interesting as its another way to teach English or other langauges in a more fun way.However sometimes i find it difficult to use this software because if there are connection problems u may not be able to access it or use certain functions.So in this case it may be a hassle for some students or teachers to use this program but as for some they enjoy learning or teaching using this program. There are few websites that run this software where teachers are able to conduct their lessons and students are able to learn and communicate with the teacher. Its week 11!!!(my reflection)

Hola people,

Another busy week for me and i bet for all the Students in NZ.ahhaha.but anyway i still need to research on my so called online English Teaching.Well if teachers who are willing to teach online need to come up with interesting ideas each time to make online class more interesting for students.I came across this website that contains online English games for students.If your the person who loves playing games and your planning to learn a new language then all u need is a computer and internet to start browsing on any language games over the internet and start playing!.Cool right?So this website that i mentioned earlier has 10 English games such as The letter thief,vocabulary jungle,frog verbs,weather words and so on.I will link the website on my blogger so that you could have a look on it.Obviously the games provided in this website is all connected to The English language.So students who are interested in learning English and would want to learn English in a more comfortable and fun environment then this website is suitable for them.In classrooms many teachers try not to conduct games or English activites in class as its probably time consuming but this can be done online. Its just like an additional activity that students can engage instead of working on other english teaching features.

of course there are more sites but i dont want to paste too many of it.But overall it can be seen that how english online teaching can make a huge difference as it is another effective method to learn a language.=)

Hi everyone these are few videos that people can watch if they are interested in learning English.Some teachers upload real live videos on a particular topic such as learning the time,people,pets,weather and other real life situations.I think using videos is another modern approach that teachers can use to teach English online=)STudents will find it interesting.

My reflection(week 10)

Hello everyone,

Im back again and i cant believe its already week 10.time flies.Well i had a busy week due to assignmnents but i manage to do more research on English online teaching.I came across this article by 2 japanese authors(Kenji kitao and katheleen kitao)that talks about the use of English Teaching over the internet.This article is sutaible for English teachers on how to teach over the net.It provides information on how English teachers can find teaching materials and teaching plans which will be a good start for them to teach English online.There is also one part that gives a description on learning English online for students.There are many links to other webpages that teachers and students can click on and find more info on how to get started learning or teaching online.I will post this article on my blogger(link area) if any of you are interested in reading the whole article.

There is also website that i came across which is Englishintaiwan.com and it shows the structure plan that are used for teaching English online.This website shows an outline of lesson plans that are taught in English.For example, there are questionairres,grammar exercises,role play and discussions,and other materials.I think this is an effective way to attract students to learn English online.Teachers who are interested in teaching English on the web are able to have an idea on how create a webpage to just teach English online using all the interesting features. This website is obviously trying to attract taiwanese students to learn ENglish on this page.So by using all the features, its more enjoyable for students to learn English in a different way and they can learn English during their spare time instead of fixed hours..This will also benefit the teacher as well as its flexible and easy for them to teach in a more fun and interesting way.

Reflection for week 8 and 9

Hello everyone,

For these past 2 weeks i have been expanding my search on English Online Teaching.I have found many different ways in teaching English on the web.There is one feature that i found that English teachers and students can use to teach or even learn through this software.This software is called 'Podcards'.Students are able to download mp3 files or materials to their ipod or computer and they are able to listen to it wherever and whenever they want too.This is pretty cool way to learn or teach English as it offers a "valuable practice to improve learners' listening skills and give teachers additional classroom material"(eslpodcards.com).The other good thing about it is that its free to download and use and also the number of downloads are unlimited.

One other website that i found quite useful for learning English Online is Teachitworld.com. This website includes a link on teaching ideas where teachers are able to share their ideas on how to teach to other teachers, provide whizzy lessons(activities and resources) for students,audio files.tropical lessons and so on.I think this website is well recognized especially among teachers as it gives them new ideas for their classes.

I think overall we can see that Language teaching is developing in many ways especially in English and i think people find it easier to learn a language epecially English online instead of attending classes or teaching in a classroom environment.Im gonna try to find more features that are being used now and in the future of online teaching.I shall keep u all updated=)i will also link the websites that i have mentioned so that you could all have a look.=)

My reflection(week 7)

Hi everyone,

Learning about English language teaching has been interesting so far.I'm planning to use blogger from now own as its much easier for me compared to mahara and i will be able to expand more on my digitals assets through blogger.At this point im concentrating on English teaching over the internet.I think this is an interesting way for me to see how i am able to teach English using a new method in the future istead of focusing on classroom teaching(traditional method).Although classroom teaching can have its benefits too but so is online teaching.Its more flexible and easy to use if we are good in technology.Im trying to get as much information as i can get about the use of online English teaching over the web.

There some websites of teaching ENglish online which is really useful for me as it may give an idea on how i could applying teaching over the internet.Its also good that some websites explains which are the right tools that are need for teaching online.Im hoping by the next few weeks im able to find more information and more teaching online features that could help create a better understanding not just for me but for other viewers on the use of teaching English online and also with the help of other interesting tecnological devices that could relate to English teaching. I will keep u all updated from time to time...till then=)

How to teach English online

Teaching English online is the latest trend for instructors or students to learn or teach a language on the internet.As we all know that teaching a language is mostly conducted in classrooms instead of the internet.Why is English taught online?how can teachers teach students online?is it effective for both students and teachers?are teacher paid well?Are the fees affordable for students?.Well we can go on questioning about this new method of whether it is suitable for learning a language.I believe all of us may think that classroom teaching suitable for now but looking at technology these days i think people who are able to use technology well can benefit from this new way of learning.

According to Bond(2003),she stated that online teaching is bassicaly a new concept for English language teachers and it is also a great tool for students around the world. She also stated that this tecnique is a good oppurtunity for students who are unable come in contact with native speakers of English,those who have a hectic lifestyle due to work and even to whose who are unable to afford to learn English in other countries.Online teaching is very flexible not only for students but for teachers. Bond claimed that she only worked 16 hours a week at home and found it easier for her to manage as she is a housewife.She did not need to worry about teaching in classrooms as it will be more difficult for her to handle.

There are many website that offer teachers to teach online. There is one example of a website that i found for people who are interested in teaching or learning a language online.




There are many interesting features that are avalaible for tutors and students.They are able to plan their own timetable and this site will also provide students for tutors rather than teachers finding for students.Students are also able to have options to choose which tutors they prefer. You may ask what are the tools that we need to teach English online?Well teachers and probably students need to atleast have skype or msn,a headset,and prefeably a webcam so that they are able to communicate with each other.
